head lettuce vs salad mix
It’s been another busy week! How have I been fortunate enough to score a Master Naturalist as a volunteer (not to mention a friend)?
This special volunteer started back up this week generously helping me on Thursdays. She educates me about wildlife, native plants, insects, and even weeds while we work.
We got a lot done today and I appreciated the companionship. We are ahead of schedule with transplanting collards, kale, swiss chard, and lettuce.
We were curious if you would be more interested in head lettuce or cut and come again varieties to plant in your own garden. We will have both to sell and plenty of the fresh stuff at the farm stand!
I prioritize natural fertilizers like alfalfa meal, worm castings, and leaf litter compost. I also add mycorrhizae to each seedling’s root system at transplant time. These amendments are chosen to benefit the plant, our soil, and your health.
I’ll be growing more flowers this year to sell at the farm stand, as well as to M Henry Design. Alexa Boyt is the owner. (You may know her and Ben from Batteaux Coffee!) I help her arrange flowers for special events and highly recommend her!
Look for an upcoming new tab on our website, where we will list local businesses we love and trust.
Thanks for reading and staying connected. Happy Spring!
